Accommodations Near the Dinner

It occurred to me that, in my last email, I forgot to include the date of our wine dinner featuring myself, James MacPhail and Brad Briske: it’s Saturday, May 23rd. Sometimes I just can’t take me anywhere…

I realize that many of you come from far afield for these things, and that we serve a relatively healthy amount of wine at these things, and that getting back home safely and legally can be… a drag. So I thought I’d put together some easy options for local accommodations for you, in case you want to make a weekend of it. All the following options are within 5 miles of the venue…

Seascape Resort would be at the high-end. It’s right on the beach in Aptos/Seascape, has a nice restaurant/bar setup (always a key requirement for me when I’m traveling), and makes for a nice, posh getaway spot.

Rio Sands is a place I’ve actually used for staycations. Nothing fancy, but right at the beach in Rio Del Mar, walking distance from Venus Spirits and a nice deli, with nice, simple clean rooms, a pool and hot tub, etc.

The Seacliff Inn is in Aptos proper, just on the inland side of Hwy 1. It’s basic, clean, and has a good restaurant onsite. I actually went to my Jr Prom dinner at that restaurant, so that’ll tell you how old the place is.

Sand Rock Farm is closest to the venue, right off Freedom Blvd on the way to Corralitos. It’s a small B&B in the redwoods. Cute, friendly and super mellow.

OK, that’s all for now. Tickets for the dinner can be found here. They’ve been selling pretty fast these last 24 hours, so hop on it soon if you can.
