While we typically focus on Burgundian varietals, occasionally we’ll venture off to Rhone for a tiny lot of Syrah… hence our very special 2010 Syrah release. We‘ve found a fruit source in the Sierra Foothills that is surprisingly cool and produces Syrah with that cool-climate structure that makes them quite unique, restrained and aromatic. Combine the rare terroir of Hidden Mesa Vineyard with the winemaking perspective of a Pinot Noir enthusiast, and you get our Hidden Mesa Vineyard Syrah. This isn’t a big, fat valley floor Syrah.
At 1400’ elevation in the Sierra Foothills, the lean red soil, long growing season and surprisingly cool microclimate clusters that are packed with intensity and depth.
This is an aromatic, structured Syrah for Pinot Noir lovers, and is built to age many years in the cellar.
